Some weddings don’t shout for attention — they quietly settle into you. This Hause Hall wedding, tucked away on the peaceful edge of Ullswater in the Lake District, was exactly that. A true hidden gem of a venue in Cumbria, surrounded by open fells, still water and space to breathe. Intimate, thoughtful, and full of warmth.
The morning began gently, with the couple getting ready separately alongside family. I spent time with the bride as she slipped into her dress and jewellery — a soft pink and green floral dress that felt perfectly at home in the landscape. There were meaningful details everywhere: a necklace handcrafted by her father to complement the couple’s handmade wedding bands, and a paper bouquet created by the bride herself. Personal, creative, and deeply considered.
The ceremony took place outdoors on a bright spring day, with Ullswater and the surrounding fells quietly holding the space. Readings from the bride and the groom’s mum brought laughter and emotion in equal measure. Hands held tight, smiles exchanged, a few tears — the good kind. This is definitely one of my favourite outdoor ceremony spaces in the Lake District.
After group photographs, canapés and a relaxed toast, we headed out for a walk up Hallin Fell. With the sun still high, the climb was warm and unhurried. At the summit, the couple shared a whisky, taking a moment to soak it all in. No pressure, no posing — just space, connection and the Lake District stretching out around them.
Back at Hause Hall, guests settled into the afternoon, chatting, laughing and admiring the views before sitting down to an incredible meal by Gingersnap Catering. Fresh, seasonal and beautifully put together — every plate felt thoughtful and generous.
A wedding day that felt natural, grounded and completely unforced — a quiet celebration in one of the Lake District’s most special, lesser-known venues.
